"Guillaume Delvigne's work immediately appealed to us because we felt a desire to build furniture out of rattan and nothing but rattan. Guillaume used all the by-products made from rattan cane: braided rattan core like the baskets, marquetry for flat surfaces reminiscent of floor mats, etc. The in-depth study of traditional designs allowed him to create solid structures with innovative shapes from the start.
The ONDE mirror stands out like a cornucopia. It is majestic. It takes the place of the family picture or the old gilded mirror above the fireplace." Tina Ledi
Designed by Guillaume Delvigne for Orchid Edition and Kok Maison, the ONDE rattan mirror combines two traditional techniques of rattan craftmanship: thick polecane structure, and weaving in rattan core, basketry style. The mirror looks like a large basket with a mirror embedded at the bottom. The woven crown evokes the concentric wavelets of a stone thrown in a pond, hence its name "ONDE" (wave in french). Its majestic and sculptural presence will change the whole atmosphere of your interior, like "a family painting or an old gilded mirror above the fireplace" (Guillaune Delvigne). If the cutout of the glass part gives the illusion of an oval shape, the mirror as a whole is however perfectly round. It is fitted with two fixing hooks, allowing a vertical or horizontal fixing.
