The miniature version of the famous adult Coquille rattan armchair, the child’s version quickly established itself as a best-seller and KOK sold thousands of copies in the 60s and 70s, and sometimes a copy can be found in flea markets. Here, we are offering you a new edition of the genuine article.

The archetype of the Vintage rattan of the 60s, the shell shape can only be made in rattan. Some other natural materials can also bend under steam (e.g. beech, as in a Thonet chair), or steel, but none will combine as much flexibility allowing such tight curves with such a low weight. This is even more true for a child's armchair. With its older brother made of round rattan core, another great classic from KOK, the "coquille" or shell is the child's armchair par excellence. In addition to its lightness and robustness, a child’s armchair made in rattan has another advantage over its competitors made of other materials: it remains handmade and is not mass-produced. It is well known that there are far fewer children’s chairs sold than their adult versions. However, for smaller models, the cost price increases, despite the saving on raw materials. Often for wooden or metal models, the price is almost equivalent between the two sizes. In rattan, the situation is quite different, and the prices reflect the proportions more logically.
Frame in natural unpeeled rattan, bound with split rattan, 4 plastic pads, one on each foot. Overall dimensions: height 55 x width 45 x depth 40, seat height 32, seat width 39 cm, seat depth 26 cm. Delivered assembled, stackable, weight 1.45 kg. Indonesian manufacture. Unlike the adult versions, the child’s Didier rattan armchair does not have an optional cushion available.
